Maze Gallery presents 'Above The Clouds', the debut London solo exhibiton for French satirical and surrealist artist Jonathan Ouisse.
In Ouisse's work, the protagonists, often animals or children gravitate in a world where they are either mistreated or ridiculed. This collection is full of symbolism inspired by political, social and environmental issues as well as media influence and the innocence and purity of childhood.
Ouisse’s work is influenced by the pictorial gesture of the Italian Renaissance, the claroscuro with a precise style using dramatic lighting to heighten the dramatic scene. Firmly rooted in the nineties his work is also influenced by an urban culture and the traits associated with this culture will undoubtedly make an impression on those who see it.
