Biography

Rimon Guimarães (b.1988) is a Brazilian multi-disciplinary artist best known for his brightly coloured mural work.

With his art in public space Rimon wants to take people away from their monotonous daily routines and provoke them to see the street as a place where they can exchange real-life experiences instead of seeing it only as a means of travelling from one place to another.  One of his recent experiences that illustrate this is the time Rimon Spent in Gambia where he left his colourful and somewhat mystical traces on the walls of little villages in the interior of the country.

Guimarães’ work recalls that of the Brazilian Naïve art scene of the late 1940’s.  Full of colour, music and movement, Guimarães attempts to create a dreamlike state for the viewer.

Anthropology and African art play a major role in Guimarães’ work  and the theme of the  African diaspora feature prominently, reflecting the cultural mix both in his native Brazil as well as around world.

Following the success of DIASPORA, his debut London exhibition with Maze Gallery in 2017, Guimarães has recieved the exciting backing by well know patron of the arts Kasseem Dean aka Swizz Beats, Alicia Keys and the foundation The Dean Collection.
