Biography

Kim Anna Smith (b. 1982) is a multi-disciplinary artist of English and Swedish descent. Central themes within her work include the collective human experience and the beauty that lies within the vulnerability and strength of the human condition. Smith’s ongoing bodies of work toy with the notion of gaze and negotiate the relationship between the seen and the unseen, the visible and the invisible. Intrigued by the emotional tug of war within ourselves, her work is both intro introspective and at times socio-political. Thus her often chosen materials – charcoal through to neon – assume a powerful significance in their contrasting effects. Her work has been shown at numerous exhibitions throughout London. Smith was also recently selected to show a large scale poster reproduction of he acclaimed twilight-blue neon piece – ‘Dreamers’, throughout the London Underground during Frieze week and beyond via art below.
